Wine tasting

The number one rule about wine tasting is “Taste and Remember”. But for less experienced wine tasters this may be a challenge, especially if you can’t tell the difference between a red and a white wine with your eyes closed. Here are a few tips that will help you get the most out of wine taste, and a little bit about wine etiquette.

The first impression is always important and this is true for wines as well. So what is the first impression that you can get from a wine? - The label. Checking out the label is very significant, especially if you are at a restaurant, because sometimes a waiter may bring you the wrong wine - by mistake or because they were out of your choice. Look at the certificates and make sure that they are in order before allowing your waiter to open the bottle.

When you are in a restaurant, the waiter will wait for you to taste the wine. And enjoying the rich taste of quality wine is what wine drinking is all about. You can tell by the color and clarity the age of the wine. As the wine ages its color becomes deeper - the youngest wines are purple, while the older ones are brick red. When you look at the wine it should be clear. This shows you that it has been filtered and it is good for consumption. If your wine is cloudy and you bought it from a store or at a restaurant, don’t drink it because most likely there is something wrong with it.
